Outreach Services (Aug – Sept 2005)

Do you know of a senior who has difficulty leaving their home and who could use some assistance with applying for government benefits?

This would include seniors approaching the age of 60 who want to apply for early Canada Pension Plan benefits and would include seniors approaching the age of 65 who want to apply for the Old Age Security benefits.

If seniors have mobility or other issues that prohibit them from leaving their homes and travelling long distances, our service provides volunteers in Vancouver who can assist them.  Our Seniors Outreach Counsellor Program from the 411 Seniors Centre has trained volunteers who go to the seniors’ homes to help with income tax forms, applications for Old Age Security, Canada Pension Plan, housing and who can provide referrals to legal and other community services.
