Seniors Cultural Buddy Project
Funded by: New Horizons for Seniors Program
“I am glad that I can contribute to the community and help out a new immigrant senior.” Seniors Cultural Buddy Project Volunteer
Program Description:
In an effort to connect multicultural seniors together, the 411 Seniors Centre Society is proud to announce the start up of their new Seniors Cultural Buddy Project. It is a nine month project starting from March 2008 to November 2008. The project encourages and facilitates opportunities for seniors to contribute their knowledge, skills and experience as Hosts (Canadian citizens/permanent residents) to Buddies (newly-arrived seniors). It also provides Hosts and Buddies with opportunities to share and learn about each other’s cultures, customs and traditions. A Host will be matched with a Buddy for a minimum commitment of 3 months to a maximum of 6 months for two to four hours each week. All activities are mutually agreed upon by the Host and Buddy.
